Sistema Whangarei

We provide an orchestral music programme to children in Whangarei through an after school program and holiday programmes. Children start on violins and cellos and can then branch out and try other instruments. All parts of the programme are provided free of charge. We not only offer music tuition, our program is intentionally designed to enhance executive functioning skills with an affective curriculum. We use positive reinforcement and encouragement as a way of motivating the children. Sistema Whangarei -Toi Akorangi exists to create extraordinary possibilities, through music education, in the lives of children and young people so that they and their whanau can access the potential for success in their lives through a sense of achievement, access to community support and general well being. We do this as our part to ensure that the young people of Whangarei have a strong self image, are resilient and know that they are worthy and capable of achieving success in life so that the city of Whangarei / Tai Tokerau feels alive and vibrant and strong.
