Committee Member/Fire Safety Liaison

Abbeyfield Whangarei is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation providing affordable, family-style living that offers company and support for older people who are also independent. Residents live in their own rooms, share meals and are supported by a small team of paid staff, while the governance of the home is provided by local volunteers.

Requirements

Important to live in close proximity of the house, situated in Kensington • Comfortable being part of the Executive Committee and attending monthly meetings • Warm, practical, steady under pressure and able to work with empathy for older adults • Available on a flexible basis.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Monthly committee meetings approximately 2 hours, held once a month.
Trial evacuation drills are conducted 6 monthly lasting approximately half an hour.
