Volunteer Playgroup Facilitator - Whangarei
Whānau Āwhina Plunket provides a range of free services aimed at improving the development, health and wellbeing of children under the age of five. Our playgroups provide a safe place for young children to interact and parents and caregivers to meet on a regular basis, form friendships and offer a range of educational activities to nurture children’s learning and development.
As a volunteer Playgroup Facilitator you will assist our Playgroup Coordinator in providing a warm, welcoming environment for whānau and provide an overview of how the group operates along with some operational duties. Duties include:
-setting up and breaking down play activities
-tidying up and cleaning
-preparing hot drinks and kai
-ensuring the attendance register is filled in
-sharing ideas for sessions
-helping with planning
-facilitating a friendly environment for caregivers to make friendships and children to explore and grow.
An understanding about early childhood development along with a keen interest to make the difference of a lifetime in the first 1,000 days will help ensure you are the right candidate for this fun and rewarding volunteer position.
This role is based in Whangarei and will require between 4 to 8 hours of your dedicated time per week on a Thursday and Friday from 9am-1pm.
Full training will be given.
Requirements
Applicants will be: Proactive and self-motivated Reliable with good time management skills Culturally aware and have a commitment to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi Good interpersonal skills Enjoys working as part of a team
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
Regular 4 to 8 hours of your dedicated time per week on a Thursday and Friday from 9am-1pm
