Volunteers for Far North Search and Rescue

Far North Search and Rescue provide land based search and rescue operations to those that are reported missing, injured or lost. Our volunteers operate in suburban, urban, wilderness and rural areas including regional and forest parks and shorelines.

Our volunteers are on call 24/7 and offer their specialist search and rescue skills free to the public via the NZ police and the Rescue Coordination Centre.

We are on the lookout for more volunteers who are keen to work as part of a search team during operations, support with fund raising, advertising and events and help with running of our Wandersearch programme.

Comprehensive training is provided both internally and externally. A range of essential course/training is listed below:

  • Outdoor first aid
  • Navigation - GPS, compass, maps
