North Haven Hospice Inpatient unit (IPU) Volunteer
Our Inpatient Unit Volunteers are valued members of the hospice team. Working alongside our nursing and clinical staff, volunteers help enhance the comfort and wellbeing of patients through practical assistance and compassionate companionship.
This role is ideal for individuals who are caring, reliable, and comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
Requirements
We are looking for compassionate, dependable volunteers who enjoy supporting others and making meaningful connections. IPU Volunteers should be good listeners, have a caring and respectful approach, and feel comfortable interacting with patients, families, and staff in a sensitive healthcare environment. The ability to work as part of a team, follow guidance from hospice staff, maintain confidentiality, and uphold professional boundaries is essential. No previous healthcare experience is required, full training and ongoing support will be provided. Most importantly, volunteers should bring kindness, empathy, and a willingness to help wherever needed.
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
Volunteers are asked to commit to one regular shift per week, choosing from the following shift times:
Morning Shift: 8:00am – 12:00pm
Afternoon Shift: 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Evening Shift: 4:00pm – 8:00pm
