Walking Support - Dargaville
We're looking for a female volunteer to accompany one of our members on regular weekly walks. These outings provide an opportunity to build confidence, promote independence and enjoy meaningful social connection. Ideally, you will be based in or around Dargaville. Training is provided. About Blind Low Vision NZ: Every day, an average of nine New Zealanders reach out to us for support with vision loss. We provide practical and emotional help so people who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision can live independently. We meet people in their homes or at local offices, advocate for accessible communities, and work to remove barriers so everyone can participate fully in life. At Blind Low Vision NZ, no goal is too big or too small.
Requirements
We are seeking a female volunteer, local to Dargaville and physically fit enough to support regular walks. Preferred qualities include empathy, reliability, punctuality and a genuine interest in learning more about vision loss.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
Once a week, on a Monday or Wednesday. For the sake of continuity, we would appreciate a commitment of a minimum of 6 months.
Getting Started
