Pest Free Te Kamo Community Ranger
We’re looking for someone to help boost local awareness and grow volunteer involvement in the Pest Free Te Kamo project.
Pest Free Te Kamo is part of the wider Tiakina Whangārei urban programme, supporting locals to remove invasive weeds and animal pests from neighbourhoods, parks, and public reserves - helping our native wildlife to return and thrive in our beautiful city.
As a Pest Free Te Kamo Community Ranger, you’ll work alongside Te Kamo Community Inc volunteers and the Tiakina Whangārei Project Lead to increase engagement and participation across the Te Kamo community. Activities may include (but are not limited to):
• Leading a small flagship trapping and/or weeding group
• Helping to organise and host community events
• Hosting a small trap library
• Sharing project updates through social media or other community channels
We’re also very open to new, creative ideas for connecting with the community and encouraging involvement.
This role would suit someone who is community focused, a confident communicator, well organised, and passionate about nature.
