Earth Day Event Supporters Dargaville - 15 April
Earth Action Trust – Nuku Nuku a Papatūānuku, in collaboration with Sustainable Kaipara, Dargaville Community Development Board, Neighbourhood Support Dargaville, Circus Kumarani, and Kaipara District Council, is organising the first Earth Day event in Kaipara on Tuesday, 15 April, at the Riverside Garden, Dargaville, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
This will be a community-focused, low-key but meaningful event celebrating our environment and encouraging waste minimisation, community connection, and environmental responsibility.
We are in need of volunteers for:
-
Street Clean-Up Team
- 6 volunteers
- 8:00am – 10:00am
• Conduct a short street clean-up around the township area. Earth Action Trust will provide the cleaning tools and related H&S resources
• Return to the event site to participate in waste separation education and support
-
Bin Station & Waste Education Support
- First Shift: 2 volunteers (10:00am – 12:00pm)
- Second Shift: 2 volunteers (12:00pm – 2:00pm)
• Man the rubbish and recycling stations
• Guide event attendees in separating waste correctly
• Engage positively with the community and raise awareness about waste minimisation
Volunteers will play an important role in ensuring the event models best-practice waste separation and demonstrates how small actions contribute to the wellbeing of our whenua.
As this is the first Earth Day event in Kaipara, we are hopeful it will become an annual event that the community looks forward to — and strong youth and volunteer participation will set the tone for future years.
