Secretary & Minute Taker for Men's Shed

We are looking for an experienced, mature secretary for the Whangarei Men’s Shed. You should be outgoing and a good communicator.
You would organise and attend our monthly committee meetings, record and distribute minutes, prepare and distribute a weekly email of upcoming events and attend to correspondence as required. The secretary also maintains the Membership register and organises the Annual General Meeting.

About the Whangarei Men’s Shed:
The Shed has 130 members and is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays 9am to 3pm. “Thinking outside the box” it purchased the old, badly deteriorated Whangarei Railway Station in 2013 restoring it and turning it into a multiple workshop areas for men to continue using their skills in an array of projects and pastimes. The building is now on the National Historic Places Trust register.
The Shed is an Incorporated Society and Registered Charity.

Requirements

  • working knowledge of Microsoft Word / PowerPoint presentations.
  • competent with email use.
  • mature, sociable and good communicator.
  • Support the aims and values of the Whangarei Men’s Shed.
  • A good sense of humour is most desirable.

Time commitment

Weekly: Several hours - Correspondence and weekly email advice to members

Monthly:

  • 8 hours - prepare monthly meeting Agenda and documents, record minutes, circulate minutes to committee.
  • up to 6 hours Membership register.

Annually: prepare for AGM, write minutes, Charities Commission update and return.
