Athletics Northland is the regional sports body dedicated to promoting and developing athletics across Northland. We are on a mission to grow participation, nurture talent, and ensure that athletics remains a thriving and inclusive sport in our communities.
We are currently seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Board In particular, we are looking for those with professional experience in:
• Finance
• Legal
• Administration
• Communications
Whether you are an experienced Board member or looking for your first governance opportunity, your expertise and leadership could make a significant impact on the future of athletics in Northland.

About the Role
As a Board Member of Athletics Northland, you will:
• Contribute to the strategic direction and vision of athletics in the region
• Oversee governance, risk, and financial responsibilities
• Support and evaluate the work of the Regional Development Officer and key staff
• Help build strong relationships across clubs, schools, community groups, and national sporting bodies
• Promote equity, transparency, and integrity across all levels of the organisation

Requirements

We welcome expressions of interest from individuals who:
• Have experience in finance, law, administration, or communications
• Understand governance and fiduciary responsibility, or are eager to learn
• Are community-minded and passionate about inclusive sport
• Want to use their professional skills to give back to their region
While experience in athletics or sport is helpful, it is not essential. We are focused on assembling a diverse Board with a range of skills and perspectives.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

• Approximately 4 hours per month
• Attendance at bi-monthly Board meetings (remote options available)
• Participation in working groups, committees, or special projects where needed
