Fully Experienced Artificial Intelligence & Cyber Security Professional - Virtual Position

The Trust is involved with flora and fauna in NZ, therefore the Trust engages and collaborates with government and non-government, profitable and non-profit, Maori and Non-Maori organizations.

Requirements

The AI and Cybersecurity Professional will design, implement, and maintain AI tools and cybersecurity protocols to protect the Trust’s data.

Key Responsibilities:
Cyber Security:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy, protecting against both internal and external threats.
  • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection laws (e.g., General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and internal data security policies.
  • Implement and maintain firewalls, anti-virus solutions, encryption protocols, and other security measures.
  • Respond to and manage security breaches, including investigation and remediation of incidents.
  • Train staff on best practices for cybersecurity and data protection.

Artificial Intelligence:

  • Develop and implement AI-driven solutions to streamline data management, conservation research, and operational tasks.
  • Utilize machine learning algorithms to improve decision-making processes, optimize resource allocation, and support conservation analytics.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify AI opportunities that enhance project outcomes, reporting, and community engagement.
  • Analyze data from various systems and make predictive models to support future Trust initiatives.

IT Infrastructure Support:

  • Monitor and maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure, including cloud-based systems, networks, and software applications.
  • Ensure system availability, data integrity, and the optimization of IT resources.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors for upgrades and system integrations.
  • Provide IT support to staff and volunteers when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a cybersecurity role, with expertise in AI systems and machine learning applications.
    • Proven experience in implementing and managing cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., National Institute of Standards and Technology - NIST, International
      Organization for Standardization - ISO 27001).
    • Experience: Experience with data protection regulations like General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other privacy laws.
    • Previous experience in non-profit or conservation organizations is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in cybersecurity tools such as firewalls, encryption, anti-virus, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.
  • Proficient in cloud computing platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure) and database management.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, R, or similar.
  • Knowledge of penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and incident response procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex IT and security concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
