Treasurer

Mangawhai Museum -
Our amazing treasurer of 10 years is looking to step back from the role and take a well-deserved rest. This leaves us some hard shoes to fill, but fortunately for us she will be around to handover, coach, and train a new Treasurer.
If you are excited to volunteer and assist in this great community-focussed role supporting the Museum Manager and the Board, as well as a fantastic group of local volunteers, we’d love to meet you!

Requirements

The key functions are;

• Cash management - collecting and banking cash
• Supplier Payments - making payments through online banking
• Wages - recording and paying wages for two employees fortnightly
• Record-keeping and Compliance - MYOB, PAYE, and GST
• Invoicing – suppliers, sponsorships, group visits etc
• Reporting – preparing monthly and annual reports, attending three monthly meetings
• Funding – assisting with provision of records required for grant applications

Skills and experience required:
You don’t need to be a qualified accountant, but if you have the skills to manage the books of a small business you would be perfect. Excel and MYOB experience would be helpful but not essential as training and support will be provided.

Most important to us: finding someone with the desire to help our wonderful museum to operate smoothly and keep growing and thriving.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

We estimate the role requires an average of 7 hours a week.
