Gum Washer
The golden gum of the Kauri tree is an important component of the story we tell at the Kauri Museum. In addition, we also sell polished gum in our gift shop. An increased demand means we are now looking for someone to join the Volunteers' Team at the Kauri Museum, to assist our Gum Polisher.
We estimate approximately six to eight hours of gum cleaning is necessary each week to keep up with the gum polisher. The work is not difficult, but it can be a bit messy, and it requires the volunteer to be on their feet whilst working. Thoroughness is important. No experience is necessary and training will be given. The work is "behind the scenes" and does not require interaction with the Museum's visitors, although you would become a part of the Kauri Museum's Volunteer Team, working along side staff and other volunteers.
Flexible hours are possible, with the work being completed over two days per week, or the job being shared by two people. Reliability is the key.
