Safety Boat Driver

Enjoy the outdoors? Sail Northland is a charitable trust set up to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in the sport of sailing.
We are seeking RIB drivers to assist with our learn to sail programmes. The role is to drive a safety boat, providing assistance to sailors on the water. You would be working under the supervision of a coach. The role also involves supporting people to get on and off the water and general help setting up for sessions and packing away. You will be working as part of a team with volunteers, coaches, sailors and their families to provide a safe environment for our students.

Requirements

  • Happy, patient, and supportive approach with people
  • A reasonable level of physical ability
  • Enjoy being outdoors and don’t mind getting wet feet
  • You will require a police background check.

One of the following:

  • RYA Club Safety Boat Operator Certificate
  • RYA Powerboating Level 2 Certificate
  • Yachting NZ Learn to sail coach Certificate
  • Experienced RIB driver

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

We provide learn to sail sessions between October and April. Training sessions for volunteers are held before the start of the season.
Sessions are run during the day and afterschool. You may commit to one or multiple sessions per week.
