Help us with the Daring
The 1863 coastal trader the Daring has emerged from the sand and sea at Muriwai after 152 years. Our challenge is to save and preserve her for the future. She will reside alongside the Mangawhai Museum for a three-year conservation project while we are building a venue for her. During that period, we need to make sure to keep her in good state.
To keep the wood from drying out and cracking, the Daring needs to be kept wet. We need volunteers to come in every day and hose her down. This will take about 1 hour every day.
You can help as a one-off or regularly.
- We will show you what needs to be done.
- Bring clothes that can get wet and gumboots.
