Recorder Tutors for 5 - 7 year olds
Whangarei Youth Music is dedicated to providing opportunities for young people to learn to play music and to participate in group performance.
Our young people are well supported in their musical development by a team of highly motivated and skilled tutors.
Our current teaching resources are stretched to capacity, so we are looking for new musically trained volunteers who may be interested in tutoring young recorder players - particularly with the beginner players.
We have groups of varying sizes, with a range of different abilities. Our young players benefit from the friendly, encouraging and relaxed situation we provide with weekly contact for music practices at our great venue, the Old Library in Rust Avenue.
Our terms follow the school terms and we run our classes on Fridays after school. The recorder classes would be half an hour long and held sometime between 3 and 5 on Friday afternoons.
Training provided.
Requirements
Volunteers would need to read music, be able to play recorder at a reasonable level, and be able to relate well to young people.
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
We operate our main WYM programme on **Fridays from 12:45 pm through until 8:30 pm during school terms. The recorder classes would be half an hour long and held sometime between 3 and 5 on Friday afternoons.
