Music Tutors - recorder, flute, or clarinet
Whangarei Youth Music is dedicated to providing opportunities for young people to learn to play music and to participate in group performance.
Our young people are well supported in their musical development by a team of highly motivated and skilled tutors.
Our current teaching resources are stretched to capacity, so we are looking for new musically trained volunteers who may be interested in tutoring young recorder, flute or clarinet players - particularly with the beginner players.
We have groups of varying sizes, with a range of different abilities. Our youth players benefit from the friendly, encouraging and relaxed situation we provide with weekly contact for music practices at our great venue, the Old Library in Rust Avenue.
Ideally we would want our tutors to be available for 2 hours between 3:30 pm and 5.30 pm, but this is negotiable.
Training provided.
Requirements
Volunteers would need to read music, be able to play recorder, flute or clarinet at a reasonable level, and be able to relate well to young people.
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
We operate our main WYM programme on Fridays from 12:45 pm through until 8:30 pm – with the instrumental tutoring mostly happening in the two hours directly after school (around 3:30 pm – 5:30pm).
Getting Started
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
