We are a voluntary group committed to the restoration of coastal forest in the Rangikapiti Pa Reserve. We will create a native coastal forest of real significance whilst maintaining its mana. We want to provide a place of outstanding historical and aesthetic richness which is accessible and enables health education and aspiration.

Goals:

  • To eradicate all pests with a view to be predator free by 2025 to allow translocation to occur.
  • To eradicate weeds and increase the native diversity to make it a native reserve of significance.
  • Work with Ngati Kahu and DOC to protect the mana and cultural integrity of the pa and surrounding reserve.
  • To upgrade the tracks so that it is accessible and becomes a sought-after place of recreation, aspiration and education.
