Kia ora, welcome to Volunteering Northland
The Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust is a charitable umbrella and support organisation for the Experiencing Marine Reserves (EMR) marine education and Whitebait Connection (WBC) freshwater education programmes. Our work involves providing dynamic experiential education programmes that engage schools and communities in conservation and the pursuit of sustainability.
EMR and WBC coordinators offer guidance, direction and coordination of classroom exercises and field trips to the ocean and freshwater environments. We also provide equipment, instruction, resources and snorkel risk management. Our organisation also runs a number of community engagement events such as planting days in the winter and snorkeling days in the summer!
Are you an experienced snorkeler? Share your passion for the water with others! Supervise participants to explore the waters of places in Whangarei Marine Reserve and the area. Discover pipefish, triplefins or nudibranchs and other reef fish.
Become a stream life investigation supervisor! you would supervise a small group of up to 4 students with their stream investigation, have some quality time with children and gain some fitness. So many good things in one volunteering:)
Would you like to learn how to propagate native plants? Join Whitebait Connection staff on Fridays at He Kakano to learn about all aspects of native plant propagation at our community native plant nursery.
