Hato Hone St John Store Volunteer - Expression of Interest
Want to make a real difference in your community?
Our Op Shop teams do fantastic work in the community selling affordable pre-loved goods, and this helps to fund our essential, lifesaving services and community initiatives.
They have created friendly, supportive community hubs, offering much-needed local services and even help New Zealand to be more environmentally sustainable - more recycling means less landfill!
Maybe you already have retail or customer service experience or perhaps you're looking for an opportunity to learn these skills - either way, we'd love to hear from you.
What's involved?
There's plenty of variety in this role, you could be doing anything from:
serving customers
cash handling
sorting donated goods
visual merchandising
tidying the store
Specific requirements
We're looking for caring individuals keen to give back to their community. Retail experience is great but not essential. If you're keen to learn, enthusiastic and reliable, then we can teach you the skills you need.
We also welcome teenagers who are over 16 years old and would like to gain some retail experience, we'd love to support your development and provide supervision while you volunteer with us!
The recruitment process will involve:
an interview with the store manager
a reference check
a criminal record check (if over 18 years old)
Optional: If your role is to involve driving (e.g. donation pick ups) we will also check that you have a current, full NZ Driver License.
