Reference nr. 3018 : Student Volunteer Army
Assist with grocery pick-ups and drop-offs

SVA runs an online grocery store, in conjunction with New World supermarkets.  People who need groceries can shop on the store site, using their own money if they're able to, or a Ministry of Social Development funded voucher if they're not able to pay by themselves.  The groceries are charged to the SVA account at the supermarket. SVA needs volunteers who can receive orders, shop for groceries and deliver them or to answer calls for their Call Centre.

About half of their current deliveries are to people who have been caught short by the need to isolate, with no groceries in the house and no funds to purchase them off of a regular supermarket website.  SVA is working with the Ministry of Social Development, who provide SVA with funds to pass on to the recipients, who then have a grocery voucher to do their shopping with.  The other half of our recipients are using their own funds to buy the groceries, but might not be able to afford the supermarket delivery fee, or might not be able to use a computer to shop with a supermarket, in which case a volunteer can take a phone order.
