Claud Switzer Residential Care is a Charitable Trust situated in Kaitaia in the beautiful Far North. We care for older people in our rest home, hospital and Puriri secure dementia unit.
Volunteers wanted as companionship for our residents to help alleviate the three plagues of loneliness, boredom and helplessness.
Spending time with residents can include:
Ideally, you would commit to a few hours a week.
- chatting, listening or reading
- accompanying residents on short walks or outings
- helping to set up for meals and assisting a resident to eat.
Timing is flexible, depending on your availability and the needs of the residents.
Volunteers support the growth of the residents, recognise their needs and interests and visit them regularly to provide loving companionship in their lives.
We will help find residents they feel real connections with and to enjoy Switzer’s flexible and inviting community environment.
Orientation provided (approximately 1-2 hours) and support follow up as needed.
- Outgoing personality with good interpersonal and communication skills
