Volunteer in our In Patient Unit & be part of our healthcare team
During a 4 hour shift you will serve the meal of the shift and then spend time with our patients and their whanau helping them feel at home, in many different ways such as chatting, sitting with them and listening to how life is, perhaps help with laundry, be part of the caring team and have quite a few laughs.
Training is carried out by volunteer leaders over 4 shifts, and you attend a 3 hour induction to hospice, as well as 3 hours on essential skills (within your first 6 months) which you must repeat every 2 years to keep you and our patients safe. There are many opportunities to train and be educated.
Enjoy being with people and making a difference in their lives and your own, because that will happen too. Whilst written and spoken English is important for communication, we welcome all cultures.
