Men have a special role- at hospice
The people we care for are at home, this can become isolating particularly when the business of life begins to fall away. For a man to have another man they can chat with means so very much as they understand the passion and detail of fishing, engineering, plumbing, the law, cooking you name it- would you join us to visit with our men in their homes for up to 3 hours weekly or fortnightly?
After interview, which can include talking with one of our male volunteers, you spend an hour with a team trainer (patient care) orientating, receiving a community volunteer resource and being linked with our community mentor for support.
You attend a 6 hour induction/essential skills training session (repeated 2 yearly to remain a volunteer).
You enjoy our interesting volunteer meeting and training calendar.
An active and responsive listener, willing to share parts of your life.
Your gift of time.
Use of email to send in your reports which show how valuable our volunteer service is.
Clean driver's licence with insurance (if you are also willing to take your patient on outings).
