Fabric lovers and eco warriors.
We are a group of zero waste plus fabric loving individuals who have come together recently to help save as much quality fabric from going to landfill. We work with the Salvation Army who have given us rooms and access to their bales to sort through prior to going to the tip. Some of us are sorters, finding the quality fabrics, some of us help distribute the still usable stuff to other organisations in need and others of us are crafters and sewers who enjoy repurposing natural fabrics. We will open our shop inside the Sallies Family Store sometime early next year when we have good security of supply for our Intercept branded items.
We will show you the difference between natural and synthetics. We are collecting for Intercept products cotton, linen, silk, wool, viscose and rayon. As well we are going through all the clothing the Sallies cannot sell in their store and finding things that are still good enough to give away to communities in need.
'A love of clothing and fabric would help but more importantly is a desire to help with reducing our waste. If you can sew that's great. If not no problem as there are lots of other jobs to do apart from sorting.
