Reference nr. 2377 : St John
First responders / Ambulance Volunteers

Come and join our volunteer team based in Dargaville!

We are looking for volunteers to crew our First Response Unit, who are interested in being on-call, either from home or work.

First Responders are trained and equipped to the same high standard as frontline ambulance officers, but with more flexibility around hours. First responders attend with a colleague and stabilise a patient until transport arrives. A call-out would generally last around an hour or hour and a half. An on-call shift would generally be 6 or 12 hours, ideally once a week.

Volunteering with St John is a commitment, but one which is immensely rewarding. In return for the time you invest in us and in your community, we offer you NZQA recognised training from the leading provider of pre-hospital emergency care in the country! St John will provide successful volunteers with training to First Responder level; all volunteers have the opportunity to later apply to progress toward gaining their National Diploma in Ambulance.

Please note: All appointments are subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks including, but not limited to, drug testing, physical assessment and health check.

If you think you have what it takes to become a First Responder volunteer, we want to hear from you. For more information please visit our website by clicking on our logo.

We welcome and encourage diversity in our workforce and adhere to best practice equal employment opportunity principles in all aspects of our recruitment and our ways of working.

Haramai ngā tai o te āniwaniwa, he kāhui rangatira tēnei, he kāhui whakamana tāngata whaimahi, e te iti, e te rahi e.
