Friends of Emergency Department Volunteers - Kawakawa Bay of Islands Hospital
We are currently taking expressions of interest for volunteer Friends of the Emergency Department (FEDs) at Bay of Islands Hospital.
The primary focus of this role is to provide non-clinical comfort, information and support to patients and those who support them whilst within the Emergency Care centre.
We ask volunteers to commit to one shift a week or fortnightly, to cover a roster of three four-hour shifts per day (morning, afternoon and evening), every day of the week (Monday to Sunday) and 52 weeks of the year.

- Excellent communication skills
- Sensitivity towards those who are sick
- A friendly, caring and compassionate personality
- A genuine interest in the well-being of others
- Physically fit (the role involves a lot of walking)
Successful applicants will receive full training, uniform and membership of Hato Hone St John (which gives free ambulance service for immediate family)
A First Aid certificate is not required.
