First responders in Russell and Paihia
We'd love you to join our volunteer team as First Responder.
We have a purpose built First Response vehicle which is used primarily in our community, responding to emergencies ahead of a transporting ambulance. Volunteers are trained and equipped to the same high standard as frontline ambulance officers but with more flexibility around hours, shorter job cycles and our patients receive extra and higher care.
If you think you have what it takes to become a First Responder volunteer we want to hear from you. Visit the station to find out more, or apply online.
We welcome and encourage diversity in our workforce and adhere to best practice equal employment opportunity principles in all aspects of our recruitment and our ways of working.
Haramai ngā tai o te āniwaniwa, he kāhui rangatira tēnei, he kāhui whakamana tāngata whaimahi, e te iti, e te rahi e.
Volunteering with St John is a commitment, but one which is immensely rewarding. In return for the time you invest in us and in your community, we offer you NZQA recognised training from the leading provider of pre-hospital emergency care in the country. St John will provide successful volunteers with training to First Responder level; all volunteers have the opportunity to later apply to progress toward gaining their National Diploma in Ambulance.
