Reference nr. 2212 : Bay of Islands Vintage Railway
Guards (Kawakawa)

The Bay of Islands Vintage Railway Trust is a heritage railway in Kawakawa. It is unique as it is the only working railway in New Zealand where the trains travel down a State Highway and right through the middle of a busy town. We schedule 4 trains to run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and every day in school holidays.

Guards are needed to ensure safety and enjoyment of passengers whilst travelling on our trains. They need to be pleasantly authoritative and fit enough to couple up carriages and change points if necessary. They must follow safety rules, complete necessary Railway documentation, and may be required to sell and issue tickets.

Training
Full training will be given by current staff. When rostered a Duty day's hours are: 9.45am to 4pm approx. Duty days rostered to fit in. Occasional transport/carpooling available from Whangarei.

Specific requirements
Volunteers need to be fit and strong with an outgoing pleasant but authoritative personality. A love of history is useful. Holding a current First Aid certificate would be an advantage.
