Web development and design
OpenLaw NZ operates a free, open legal data platform for New Zealand. We're looking for people interested in development and design to help us make the platform New Zealand's leading free legal data resource.
We're currently working on the following projects:
- Importing and analysing PDF data, text parsing
- Infrastructure (AWS/Azure cloud development)
- Design and accessibility
All volunteer tasks will be completed remotely on your own PC. We communicate constantly via slack, email and video/voice chat as required.
You'll receive training and supervision from our CTO who has over a decade of development experience. You'll learn in-demand skills and develop your public profile via GitHub commits to our repositories. You'll also learn about New Zealand's legal framework and how different pieces of legal data can be combined in ways that help people better understand law. Specific requirements
We need people who already have some knowledge and experience of any of the development technologies we use. Those are:
- Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
Alternatively, if you have design and accessibility experience, we also seek volunteers to help with those aspects of our platform.
If you would like to volunteer with development, we will ask you for a link to your GitHub profile so we can see what sort of experience you have.
