Operational support for the Firefighters (Whangarei Station) and Mobile Canteen
The Whangarei Central Fire Station (Bank St) are looking for new volunteers to support the work of the paid Firefighters.
Almost anybody can join a Brigade, male or female, young or old, those looking for adventure or those just wanting to contribute to their community. There are opportunities for people from all backgrounds within a Volunteer Fire Brigade.
The Operational Support Members assist the operational Firefighters on the incident ground, by carrying out tasks that are non-hazardous to free up Firefighters for more specific tasks. These duties include:
- people and traffic control
- transporting of equipment, assisting the incident controller, and
- other duties that are not in the incident hot zone
The Canteen Unit is a vehicle that will respond to larger fires and other emergency incidents to provide liquid refreshments and solid food (snacks or meals).
It will be available 24/7 so we are looking for volunteers who will;
- Drive to incident
- Set up unit
- Organise and cook meals
- Help distribute food if required
- Clean up Canteen Unit for next call.
