Friends of Emergency Department (FED) - Volunteer - Whangarei Hospital
We are currently taking expressions of interest for volunteer Friends of the Emergency Department (FEDs) at Whangarei Hospital.
The primary focus of this role is to provide non-clinical comfort, information and support to patients and those who support them whilst within the Emergency Care centre.
We ask volunteers to commit to one shift a week or fortnightly, to cover a roster of three four-hour shifts per day (morning, afternoon and evening), every day of the week (Monday to Sunday) and 52 weeks of the year.

- Excellent communication skills
- Sensitivity towards those who are sick
- A friendly, caring and compassionate personality
- A genuine interest in the well-being of others
- Physically fit (the role involves a lot of walking)
Successful applicants will receive full training, uniform and membership of St John (which gives free ambulance service for immediate family)
A First Aid certificate is not required.
