Local people who will provide our patients and their families with support which includes sitting with patients to give caregivers a break, outings, bringing into our day hospice in Whangarei, and other help as it becomes apparent

Training
Full training is given in our In-Patient unit so that community volunteers understand the Hospice way. Interview with the Manager of Volunteer Services is followed by induction. Later you attend Essential Skills training 3 hours and absorb the feeling of hospice by shadowing an experienced IPU volunteer for 2 x 4 hours shifts

Specific requirements
Flexible, mobile, good communicator, enjoyment of being with people. Able to demonstrate hospice values. Aged mid-20+
