Volunteers who support patients and their carers living at home

Are you a people person who wants to make a difference to people's lives by providing our patients and their families with visitor support at home.  This can include visiting with patients regularly over a period of time, sitting with patients in their homes for 2 or 3 hours to give caregivers a break, taking a patient on an outing locally, being a regular telephone caller other help or support as it becomes apparent.

Training
An interview with the Manager of Volunteer & Hospitality Services is followed by a 'shadow shift' in our In-Patient Unit (IPU) with an experienced IPU Volunteer which will help you absorb the values and culture of Hospice. Within 12 months, you will  attend 'Essential Skills' training for 3 hours and an 'Induction' training to help you understand the Hospice way. 

Specific requirements
Flexible, mobile, good communicator, enjoyment of being with people. Able to demonstrate hospice values. Aged mid-20+
