Dargaville Learner Driver Volunteer Mentor Project
Volunteer Mentor Drivers wanted urgently;
RoadSafe Northland seeks mature experienced driver,s with a current clean licence and a willingness to help learner drivers, by giving them up to 30 hours of your time to supervise their driving practice in and around Dargaville. The project aims to pair learner drivers with a volunteer mentor driver to will help them gain experience and confidence before sitting the restricted test. Learner drivers need to be capable and confident before they “Go Solo” on the road, to ensure their safety and that of all of the community. Many do not have access to the help of sufficiently experienced drivers to supervise their driving, or a car and so this programme aims to provide that help.
An automatic car is provided for the purpose and all expenses are covered other than getting to and from the venue.
A Training/information workshop will be held in Whangarei on Tuesday 15 May from 10.30am to 3.00pm. A light lunch will be provided.On going training and assistance will be available. A vehicle is provided for the mentoring process.
Mentors must be at least 25 years old and have held a current clean full car drivers licence for at least two years. You need to be prepared to commit at least 2 hours per week to supervise driving practice A patient, encouraging approach is required and a willingness to attend training
