Reference nr. 1826 : Bay of Islands Riding for the Disabled
Horse Leader/ Rider Helper/ Arena activities

We provide opportunities for anyone with a disability to enjoy safe, healthy, stimulating, therapeutic horse riding and horse-related activities. We operate in the school terms. We need people who are comfortable to be around both horses and children. The job will involve leading horses or side walking with our riders in the arena during sessions.

Training
RDA does these jobs a certain way and so all volunteers would be trained to do these jobs. Volunteers are expected to attend a full day Volunteer training during their time at RDA (but this is usually arranged once or twice a year) Other related courses are run by NZRDA and there are opportunities to gain NZQA qualifications if interested.

Specific requirements
No special experience or skills needed but a desire to join a fun team and help others.
