Marine VHF Radio operators

Marine VHF coverage is a vital part of keeping the Far North maritime community safe.

Based in Doubtless Bay and covering a Marine VHF area from Whangaroa on the east coast to the top of the Hokianga Harbour on the west coast, volunteers are required to log trip reports for vessels departing and entering any of these ports. This is an interesting and informative opportunity.

Shifts are 4 1/2 hours long-8.30am-1.00pm and 1.00pm- 5.30pm There is a commitment that you are able to be rostered on for a minimum of one shift every two weeks.

Specific requirements
Exceptional hearing and diction; Clear, concise handwriting; knowledge of boating or an interest in fishing; 18 years and over; landline; clean Police record.
