Mustelid Trap Service

We are looking for fit, committed individuals able to work independently to join our team of trappers working in the Bream Head Scenic Reserve at Whangarei Heads.

The role involves checking, clearing, re-baiting mustelid traps and trap maintenance. Trap catch and/or maintenance data is to be recorded on smartphone app.

On-site training will be provided.

Specific requirements
Resetting 200 mustelid traps requires reasonable strength.
Good level of fitness and ability to carry up to 10kg (includes own personal items such as lunch and drink bottle etc).
Mustelid lines will need to be checked and re-baited regularly every two weeks. The lines are approx 2 – 3 kilometres in length and will take approximately 2 - 3 hours to complete. Time to complete will vary depending on level of fitness and weather conditions.

Own equipment required:
Well charged and working cellphone (smartphone essential as we use an app for data recording during the checks) and for Health and Safety.
Sturdy footwear and appropriate outdoor clothing required
Small day pack for food, water,cellphone & extra clothes
Waist pouch bag and gloves will be provided for carrying toxin,bait, tools etc.

Minimum commitment of 3 months is required.
Longer term commitment preferred.
