Front Counter Volunteer at the Police Station

The police station front counters in Whangarei have been manned with volunteers since 2009, providing a vital service and first point of contact to the community.

As a volunteer, you

  • triage the public coming into the front counter and assess if you can assist, or if the person needs to speak with a Police officer.
  • assist with queries like lost property.
  • organise paperwork.
  • connect the right police staff with people if needed.
  • act as first point of contact for visitors entering the station.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

You must be able to commit to at least a 4h shift once a week (either morning shift 9am - 1pm or afternoon shift 1pm - 5pm).
